May 2020 Sale Report

May 15, 2020

Despite coronavirus and economic concerns, B.R. Cutrer, Inc. held a phenomenal Brahman seedstock sale on May 12, 2020. The sale was an online sale held through DV Auction. The sale came at the end of the spring sale season, and included the high selling bull of the Brahman breed for the spring 2020 sale season and the highest sale average of the Brahman breed for the spring sale season as well.

Bidders logged in bright and early for the one day sale, and bidding was rapid already by 8:00 am. When the sale closed at 7:00 p.m. that night, over 1,000 bids had been cast in the online sale from interested bidders from California, Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Bids were also cast from Mexico and Thailand.

BRC Boom Box 38

BRC Boom Box 38 was the high selling animal of the sell, commanding a final auction bid of $70,000. Before and after the sale, Boom Box has received a world of attention from Brahman breeders interested in using his genetics. He is a son of the 3-time Houston champion bull Mr. V8 146/8 and also out of the 2-time Houston Grand Champion Female, 1x National Champion Female, and Brahman “Miss World,” Miss V8 21/8 “Boom Shaka Laka.

Boom Box was purchased by a new Brahman enthusiast from South Louisiana. The bull will be offered as an AI sire through Brahman Country Genetics with plans to be collected spring 2021.

BRC Angel’s Envy

BRC Angel’s Envy was the high selling female lot at $32,600, selling to a Brahman breeder in north Texas. She is a direct daughter of the great Miss V8 100/7, dam of Noble.

The “Mystery Lot” of this year’s spring sale featured 2 units on Mr. V8 376/8 “Dutton” – BRC’s 2019 Reserve National Champion Brahman Bull. The units sold for $4950 each and were purchased by a breeder in Texas. Immediately after the sale, half interest was sold in Dutton. Thus, at this time, there are no future plans to offer Dutton semen for the remainder of 2020, if ever, in the United States. Dutton is 100% straight bred BRC genetics, being sired by the great Noble and out of Boom Shaka Laka. He is also a full brother to the 2020 Houston Grand Champion Female, also bred by BRC.

We appreciate all of the overwhelming interest in our sale. As this was the first sale we held with our new “BRC” Brand, we felt extremely appreciative and grateful of the clear validation of the acceptance and demand for the “hot new BRC brand” throughout the Brahman world. We believe in “selling good cattle and treating people right” and are committed to helping each of our new buyers find complete success with their new purchases from BRC.
