BRC Wins Championships at First Two Shows of 2022

BRC started the 2022 year with a two week stock show road trip, exhibiting cattle at the ABBA Winter Classic in Belton and the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City.

With it being a two week trip, BRC herdsman Harley Wade selected the top seven head from our show string to make the trip to ensure the cattle had plenty of room on the trailer for the long trip.

With a small show string, BRC claimed 15 different banners from the seven head we took to the shows. BRC also exhibited champions at both of the shows.

“We really enjoyed getting our cattle out and especially attending the new Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City,” said Keaton Dodd, director of genetics and astute cattle judge.

“What we noticed is that on this trip, we exhibited under three different style judges – a breeder judge, an academic professor, and a commercial cattleman,” Dodd said. “What was consistent under all three judges is that the BRC cattle rose to the top, and that is our goal in breeding cattle that fit the needs of the industry.”

BRC Lady Sugar 62 was named Grand Champion Female at the ABBA Winter Classic and Cattlemen’s Congress junior show. She was also selected as Reserve Grand Champion Female in both open shows. Sugar is bred by BRC and exhibited by Kase Baca, a Boling Jr. FFA member.
