BRC Platinum Genetic Investment Sale Report

December 16, 2021

The BRC Platinum Genetic Investment Sale capped off a record-breaking year for B.R. Cutrer’s sales in 2022. This sale captured the interest of over 50 different Brahman breeders worldwide who gathered around the screen on December 14 for one day of excitement and competition to buy the best of of BRC’s ‘Modern American Brahman.”

BRC Hey Dude 118 was the high selling lot, with half-interest selling for $36,000 to Storey Brahman Ranch of Idabel, Oklahoma. The Storey family is a multi-generation family ranch that we have shared a friendship with for many years, and one that spans across three generations. We are thrilled and honored that Hey Dude will be joining their program in Oklahoma.

The second high selling lot was BRC Aggie 108, at $22,100 for half-interest, who will be joining the program at Finley Bros. Cattle Company as their foundation Brahman sire. Finley Brothers have built a solid reputation of quality seedstock in the Angus breed, and with their location in Florida, were looking to implement the heat tolerance aspect of Brahman cattle while still maintaining the high quality carcass traits, good maternal backgrounds, sound structure, and all the other important traits that have built their Angus program.

“This one will be a great cornerstone for Finley Bros.,” said Craig Finley.

We are thrilled to be partners with the Finley team. It is especially an honor for us when esteemed breeders of other seedstock breeds select BRC for their genetic source for crossbreeding.

BRC Stockman 91 was the final bull of the sale, capturing a bid of $13,200 for half-interest to progressive Mexican rancher, Israel Ramirez. Israel and his family have been steadily building a tremendous program in southern California and Mexico over the last five years and we have greatly enjoyed building this friendship.

This sale also featured three outstanding Brahman frozen embryo lots, which commanded the highest embryo prices in public auction of the Brahman breed in 2022. These lots were:

  • 100/7 x Captain, a extra-rare mating from the now-deceased dam of Noble, selling for $4,600 per embryo.
  • Lupita x Captain or Dutton, sold for $3,175 per embryo.
  • 392/8 x 160, a power packed mating by the dam of BRC Sugar 62, sold for $3,025 per embryo.

This sale was the fourth and final sale of the year for BRC, and we greatly appreciate the tremendous demand for BRC genetics. We feel that this sentiment from one of our sale buyers perfectly sums up why we do what we do, and the passion we have for this breed:

Thank y’all for everything that you do for all of us that truly love Brahman cattle. My dad told me that you remind him of your grandpa. He was, and you are, the definition of “good people.”

At this time BRC does not have any sales scheduled for 2022. We are only accepting private inquiries to purchase cattle at this time.
