You’ll leave the workshop with new ideas for improving the functionality of your cow herd, the marketing options for your ranch, and able to develop a long term sustainable Brahman herd for the future.

- Production and functionality measurements for your herd
- Marketing ideas to boost your cattle sales averages and reach
- Case study of various Brahman cattle operations past and present, and how they’ve either found success, or failed due to management and marketing.
- Evaluation of your current breeding program and changes that need to be made for the future.

10:35 AM – Are You Ready for the Future of Brahman in the Cattle Business? Keaton Dodd, BRC Ranch Today’s Brahman cattle business is different than every before. In this very interactive and audience driven discussion session, Keaton Dodd facilitated a very open and compelling discussion to help participants recognize the opportunities available in the Brahman breed, as well as the challenges of breeding Brahman cattle and how to overcome them.
Noon – Brahman Country Genetics Awards Luncheon and presentation of Circle of Excellence, Brahman 100, and Brahman 500 awards. Lunch featuring Brahman Country Beef.
1 PM – You bought a donor, now what? Cary Crow, TransOva Genetics
Many breeders are eager to invest in elite Brahman females, but are you really prepared for how to successfully own and manage your donors? Are your females “donor quality?” Learn what makes a great donor, best management practices, budget estimations, embryo sales, inventory management and more.
2-2:30 PM – The Myths and Status of the Brahman beef industry, Alyson Fontenot, Texas A&M University
You’ve heard for years that packers discriminate against Brahman cattle, but is that really an accurate stereotype? Brahman breeder and meat judging expert Alyson Fontenot will walk us through a history of Brahman beef, advancements within the breed, and how Brahman beef plays a role in the future of the global protein business.
3 PM – Breeding the Best in Brahman, Rachel and Brandon Cutrer, BRC
How do you go from owning 6 head to breeding more Houston Grand Champions than any other ranch in the last decade? By strategic breeding, understanding the interactions of different Brahman bloodlines, and a strict eye for visual appraisal matched with data tools. The Cutrer’s have changed the Brahman game in the last decade and in this session, they’ll explain their breeding strategies from the past, present and future.
3:30 PM – “Ask Us Anything”
This session will provide a forum for participants to submit a pre-written question to be answered by our panel of experts. It’s your chance to get any Brahman questions answered, no matter how big or small.
4:00 PM – Tours and Hands-On Demonstrations at BRC
The BRC team will provide hands on demonstrations on cattle judging (Keaton Dodd), a tour of our show barn, and a cattle working demonstration by Brandon Cutrer and the BRC team including branding, cattle working, collecting DNA, processing and more. For those who wish to stay in the air conditioning, visit us at The Ranch Downtown for light snacks and drinks.
5:00 p.m. – The countdown is on! During this time, the BRC team will be at the sale pens and sale pavilion to discuss the offering selling on the “Night of Champions” draft board. The board will be revealed, allowing you for plenty of time to get the strategy for your picks!
6:00 p.m. BRC “Night of Champions” Event, Awards Presentation and Farm to Table Dinner and Concert
