Brahman Country Beef Gears Up for Best of the West Competition

August 24, 2021

Brahman Country Beef, beef produced by B.R. Cutrer, Inc., will be headed North to Rendezvous City, Wyoming, on August 28th for the Best of the West Beef Roundup Competition.

The event seeks to highlight national beef producers by hosting a beef-tasting competition that will benefit the meat science program at Central Wyoming College.

Competitors will provide New York Strip, ground beef, and ribeye cuts to be cooked by the event chefs, and VIP ticket-holders will try 1oz portions of the steaks.

Beef Round-Up event coordinator Tyler McCann personally sought out Brahman Country Beef’s participation.

“We needed a Texas Producer for the event and I thought ‘there’s nothing better than Brahman beef.’ They were really gracious and accepted our offer,” McCann said.

There is a Wyoming division and an Open division, where Brahman Country Beef will be competing. There will be ten competitors in the Wyoming division and according to McCann, 12 out-of-state producers were invited.

While Wyoming beef is still the center of attention, McCann is elated with the response they’ve received from out-of-state producers.

“We had so much response from out-of-state producers after [our first competition]. This year we’ve having a runaway. We’ve had so many producers [interested] we’ve had to put a limit on [the entries],” McCann explained.

The event schedule includes giveaways and seminars ranging from beef-and-wine pairing to Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) discussion. We will keep our fans updated on the results of the contest as they are available.
